IC CHARACTERISTICS:
•CURRENT CANON POINT: The end of season 5/ season 6 special. The Venture Compound has just burned down.
•PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Dr. Orpheus is and average to slightly tall lean man in his 40's. His hair is graying and he wears a goatee. He favors smoking jackets, pinstripe suits, cloaks, anything fancy. He always wears an ornate cross around his neck.
•DEMEANOR: The textbook definition of the LARGE HAM! He is overly dramatic, physically expressive and occasionally shouts in normal conversation. Although he is an American, he has an inexplicable British accent.
•ABILITIES: His abilities are poorly defined in canon, but in general:
Tier I powers:
Mindreading: He can read recent memories if he touches someone and concentrates.
Illusions: These can range from mild ones, like making someone believe a rock is a snake to disturbing things to changing someone's belief about their identity. I am going to try to avoid the more powerful manifestations of this ability.
Resurrection: In general this requires a fresh body and plenty of material spell components. It's against his ethical code to perform this on a body that can't be healed.
Soul Shenanigans: He can trap people's souls in objects.
Sleep: He can make people fall asleep and suggest that they forget things.
Tier 2: Somewhat less worrying powers
Astral Travel: His spirit can move around independently of his body.
Levitation: Making objects smaller than a person float.
Perceiving and talking to spirits
Perceiving and repairing the boundaries between worlds Whatever that means.
Energy bolts: Shooting taser-like bolts of energy.
Transforming objects: He can sort of do this, but not well at all.
[Note: Dr. Orpheus is immune to mind-wiping (by force or technological means), but he is super-vulnerable to hypnotic suggestion. Try it, it's fun.]
•MEDICAL INFORMATION: He is an agile fifty something year old man in decent shape.
•CABIN INFORMATION: His door is wooden, with a large knocker. The inside is a cozy den, with floor to ceiling bookcases and a false fireplace. Behind a dividing wall is a small room with a bed. There is also a closet.
•OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS: He will be mildly irritated at disbelief in/ distrust of magic. Also his daughter's virginity IS NOT A PRIZE TO BE WON. He's fairly protective of her.
IC PERMISSIONS:
•MENTAL: He's immune to mind-wiping by force, whether psychic or technological. He's also fairly well protected against spiritual possession or attack. Other than that, go ahead! He's very vulnerable to hypnosis.
•MIMICRY: Can another character imitate your character in physical appearance and/or voice? Yes.
•VIOLENCE: HAVE AT YOU, FOUL FIEND! (Yes.)
•MAGIC: Maybe, he might be able to protect himself if he knows it's coming and it's similar to his own world's magic, but I'll accept any reason that a character might be able to work magic on him.
•DEBATE: Yes. He loves talking.
